Victoria, Australia (My Sportsbook) - Overnight leader Ewan Porter and fellow Aussie Wayne Perske share first place after Friday's second round of the Moonah Classic.
Porter managed a one-under 71, while Perske fired an impressive five-under 67 Friday at Moonah Links. The pair finished 36 holes at six-under-par 138.
Rick Kulacz shot a three-under 69 and is alone in third place at minus-five. Terry Price posted a two-under 70 and has fourth at four-under 140.
Light rain and heavy winds greeted the players on Friday.
Porter, who held a one-shot lead after round one, began on the 10th tee Friday. He bogeyed No. 11, but recovered the lost stroke with a birdie at the par-five 15th.
Porter bogeyed 16, but a birdie at the par-three 17th kept him at five-under par for the championship.
On Porter's second nine, he dropped a shot at the first hole. He birdied two and four, but a bogey at the sixth took him back to even-par for the round. Porter birdied the par-four ninth to get his share of first.
"At the end of the day I am over the moon to shoot one-under par because I really did not play that good," acknowledged Porter. "I did not play anywhere near as good as yesterday. I grinded it out. My short game, two days in a row, has held me in there."
Perske started well with a pair of birdies at two and three, but dropped a shot at the par-five fourth hole. He parred his next seven holes around the turn, then caught fire at the end of his round.
He birdied the 12th and rattled off back-to-back birdies at 14 and 15. Perske birdied the par-five closing hole to grab his piece of the top spot on the leaderboard.
"It was pretty windy out there in stages," Perske said. "I'm pretty happy with that score. I didn't make many mistakes and I could have gone a couple better. It makes me feel good for the weekend."
Fran Quinn struggled to a one-over 73 on Friday and is alone in fifth at minus-three.
Adam Bland (69), Gibby Gilbert III (69) and Tee McCabe (72) are knotted in sixth place at two-under 142.
Scott Laycock (70), Bret Guetz (71), Ricky Barnes (72), Alistair Presnell (72) and Bryce Molder (69) are tied for ninth place at one-under-par 143.
The 36-hole cut fell at four-over-par 148 and this year's Panama Championship winner Scott Dunlap (154) will miss the weekend.
