Columbus, OH (My Sportsbook) - The
Calgary Flames hope to extend their unbeaten streak to five games tonight when they visit the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
Calgary is 3-0-1 in its last four, including wins over a pair of the Eastern Conference's best -- Philadelphia and Boston -- in its last two. The Flames are 7-1-2 in their last 10 overall and sit only four points off Vancouver's pace atop the Northwest Division.
On Thursday, Jarome Iginla scored twice and Jamie McLennan stopped 30 shots for his third shutout of the season, as the Flames trounced the Bruins, 5-0, at the FleetCenter. Josh Green, Jordan Leopold and Dean McAmmond also tallied.
Martin Gelinas and Matthew Lombardi each chipped in a pair of assists for the Flames, who have earned at least a point in 14 of their last 15 games (10-1-2-2) overall.
Iginla has been playing spirited hockey during the team's recent surge and has tallied seven times in the last nine games. He is second on the team with 11 goals -- one behind Shean Donovan -- and leads Calgary with 22 points.
The Flames, 6-5-0-2 on the road, will conclude a three-game road trip tonight. They'll host Edmonton on Tuesday.
Columbus, meanwhile, is 0-3-1-2 in its last six games, including Tuesday's 2-1 loss to host St. Louis. Keith Tkachuk scored with 43 seconds left in overtime to lift the surging Blues.
Andrew Cassels tallied the lone goal for Columbus, while Marc Denis allowed two scores on 37 shots. The Jackets are tied with Chicago for the worst mark in the Western Conference at 23 points.
Columbus, 1-2-2-1 in its last six at home, will visit 2000 expansion classmate Minnesota on Saturday.
The Blue Jackets and Flames have split two games this season, with each club winning in its own rink. The home team has won 10 of the 14 all-time meetings.
