New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - The
New York Knicks try for their third straight win tonight when they host the
Golden State Warriors at Madison Square Garden.
After dropping six straight, including all five legs of their recent west coast road trip, the Knicks have rebounded with back-to-back wins at home. On Sunday, Allan Houston poured in 39 points and hit a key jumper with 18.1 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, as the Knicks rallied for an 89-87 triumph over the Washington Wizards.
Charlie Ward netted 13 points and Antonio McDyess chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds for New York, which won for the fourth time in five games at MSG.
Houston, who leads the team with 20.3 points-per-game, finished 12-for-19 from the field and made all 12 of his free throws.
There could be a problem brewing in New York, though, as Antonio McDyess started his second straight game and had 12 points and 11 rebounds in 34 minutes -- his most playing time since returning eight games ago following a knee injury.
Kurt Thomas, who missed Saturday's win with a sore knee, was relegated to bench duty for the first time since April 8, 2001 and was reportedly not pleased with coach Don Chaney's decision.
New York, which will be closing a three-game homestand tonight, is 6-5 at home. The Knicks will be home for 11 of their next 16 games.
Golden State, meanwhile, has dropped two in a row after falling to the New Orleans Hornets, 96-85, on Friday. Mike Dunleavy scored 25 points to lead the Warriors, who have dropped four of their last six games. Nick Van Exel had 12 points and eight assists in the loss.
Golden State has been held below 90 points in consecutive games after averaging 97.5 over its previous six.
The Warriors, who will be starting a four-game road trip tonight, are 2-6 away from home this season.
The Knicks lost to Golden State last week as part of their dismal trip and have dropped three in a row and four of their last five to the Warriors. Golden State, though, has lost five of its last eight on Broadway.
