Porto, Portugal (My Sportsbook) - FC Porto midfielder Raul Meireles received a three-year contract extension from the team that will keep him at Porto until 2012. Meireles' deal was not set to expire until 2009, but the 24-year-old had no trouble securing his spot at the club even longer, joining teammate Ricardo Quaresma, who also signed an extension this past week. Porto sits atop the league standings with an 11-point cushion on second-place Benfica. They will visit fourth-place Sporting Lisbon on Sunday as they close in on a third straight league title. Meireles has earned six caps for Portugal during his career and has scored four goals for Porto so far this campaign. He has also featured in all six of the club's Champions League group stage contests, and will likely start in Porto's Round of 16 matchup with Schalke in February.
