Rio De Janeiro, Brazil (My Sportsbook) - Corinthians fired manager Nelsinho Baptista on Tuesday, two days after the club was relegated to the second division on the season's final day. Corinthians, which is one of the biggest clubs in Brazil, has now gone through four coaches this past season. Atletico Mineiro and Vasco da Gama also fired their head coaches since the end of the season, while Cruzeiro got rid of manager Dorival Junior on Monday despite leading the club to a fifth-place finish, bringing the total of fired managers to four so far this offseason. Nelsinho took over in September for the final 11 games of the season, but he won just two of those games and could not keep the club in the top flight. "Corinthians thank Nelsinho Baptista for his services and for his courage in taking charge of the team in such a difficult situation," a statement said on the club's website. "He's a winning coach in Corinthians' history and the club's doors will always be open for him."
