Otman Bakkal opened the scoring in the first half for PSV and Kenneth Perez converted a penalty in the 79th for the defending champions. PSV (8-1-3) moved past idle Ajax and Feyenoord, which both play Sunday, to take over first place. Sebastian Pardo scored Excelsior's lone goal in the 71st minute, converting his own missed penalty. Also on Saturday, Donny de Groot, Lasse Schone and Berry Powel scored to lift Graafschap to a 3-2 win over fourth-place Heerenveen, Ferreira Ari and Moussa Dembele scored as AZ beat Willem II 2-0, and Heracles tied Venlo 0-0.
