Louisville, KY (My Sportsbook) - Earl Clark erupted for 20 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists as sixth-ranked Louisville downed Jackson State, 84-53, at Freedom Hall.
Clark was 10-of-13 from the free-throw line and added three blocks for the Cardinals (2-0), who knocked off Hartford Saturday night in their season opener. Andre McGee posted 18 points and Derrick Caracter had 11 in supporting roles.
Darrion Griffin scored a team-best 15 points for Jackson State (0-4), which was coming off a 100-61 loss at the hands of BYU.
Grant Maxey (10 points) was the only other Tiger in double-figures, as Jackson State shot just 30 percent from the field.
Most of the first half was closely contested, but Louisville finished the stanza with a 10-2 burst to take an 11-point lead into the locker room.
McGee started the run with a layup. Maxey countered with a lay-in for Jackson State with just over four minutes to play, but the Cardinals shut out the Tigers the rest of the way and rattled off eight unanswered points to finish the half.
Caracter finished the surge with a layup, giving Louisville a 36-25 edge at the break. McGee led all scorers after 20 minutes with 13 points.
The Cardinals quickly turned the game into a rout in the second half.
Jackson State moved within single digits on a pair of Maxey free throws, but the Cardinals responded with eight straight points to establish a 49-32 advantage.
Louisville cruised the rest of the way.

Louisville won its only previous meeting with Jackson State back in 1994 as part of the Great Alaska Shootout...The Cardinals finished the 2006-07 season with a 24-10 record, including a 12-4 mark in the Big East Conference.
