Austin, TX (My Sportsbook) - The 16th-ranked Texas Longhorns will host the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils tonight as part of the Legends Classic in what appears to be a tremendously lopsided matchup. Arkansas-Monticello opened its season against nationally-ranked Tennessee (101-44 loss) and then followed that with a game against West Virginia on Friday. The result of that clash was another lopsided setback (81-53). The Boll Weevils, who compete against the likes of Delta State and Henderson State in conference play, hope to benefit from these games against tough competition to begin the campaign. Texas enters tonight's contest with a 2-0 record, as the club has knocked off Texas-San Antonio (58-37) and UC-Davis (73-42) in succession. The Longhorns are considered one of the top teams in the Big 12 Conference despite the fact that last season's star player, Kevin Durant, skipped his final three years of collegiate eligibility to enter the NBA Draft. This game marks the first-ever meeting between Arkansas-Monticello and Texas on the hardwood. Arkansas-Monticello only shot 38.2 percent from the floor against West Virginia, including a 7-of-20 effort from three-point range. The Boll Weevils turned the ball over 27 times and only attempted six foul shots in 40 minutes of action. A 41-30 rebounding disadvantage played a role in the loss as well. Clearly, Arkansas-Monticello was outclassed in that tilt, and more of the same is expected this evening. Leading the way in defeat against WVU were Deron Brown and Giovanni Marchetti, both of whom scored 13 points. Brown dished out six assists as well to pace the team. The third and final double-digit scorer was Derek Easter with 12 points, and he also managed seven rebounds and five steals. Against UC-Davis on Friday, Texas was completely dominant at both ends of the floor. The Longhorns connected on 54.5 percent of their field goal attempts while limiting the opposition to 30.2 percent efficiency. Texas only turned the ball over six times while racking up 17 assists, and the Longhorns earned a 30-24 rebounding advantage. Leading the way in the victory was A.J. Abrams with 21 points in 40 minutes of action. Connor Atchley tallied 11 points, while D.J. Augustin came through with 10 points and 11 assists while only committing two turnovers. In the season-opening victory over Texas-San Antonio, Augustin led Texas with 19 points. It is hard to imagine the 'Horns playing any better at the defensive end than they have the last two times out.
