Tucson, AZ (My Sportsbook) - Sean Singletary netted 24 points and dished out eight assists, as Virginia upset 17th-ranked Arizona, 75-72, at the McKale Center.
Jeff Jones had 15 points off five three-pointers and Jamil Tucker contributed 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting off the bench for the Cavaliers (3-0). Mamadi Diane scored nine points and blocked three shots.
Jerryd Bayless poured in 21 points for Arizona (1-1), while Chase Budinger had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in the loss. Jordan Hill chipped in 14 points and pulled down five boards.
The teams were deadlocked at 69 with 1:22 left and Singletary hit a pair of free throws to put Virginia ahead, 71-69. Bayless missed a jumper, Singletary ripped down the defensive board and put the Cavaliers up 73-69 with a jumper near the free throw line.
Bayless answered with a three to make it 73-72 with 25.6 seconds left. The Cavaliers were then whistled for a five-second violation on the ensuing inbounds pass, giving Arizona a chance to take the lead.
However, Bayless turned the ball over and Adrian Joseph came up with the steal. Joseph was immediately fouled, sending him to the line for a 1-and-1 with 20.5 seconds remaining. He converted both free throws, putting Virginia ahead 75-72.
Jawann McClellan missed a jumper, Budinger failed on the putback, and Bayless' shot came up short in the waning seconds.
Virginia had a 42-31 lead at the break, but trailing 46-36 early in the second half, Budinger capped a 13-2 run with a dunk to give the Wildcats the lead.
Virginia shot 51 percent (25-of-49) from the floor, while the Wildcats made 48.1 percent (26-of-54) of their shots.

Virginia leads the series, 3-2...Arizona had 21 points off 18 turnovers and 26 rebounds compared to the Cavaliers, who grabbed 27 rebounds and scored 20 points off 17 turnovers.
