Surfers Paradise, Australia (My Sportsbook) - Brazilian Bruno Junqueira captured the provisional pole for Sunday's Lexmark Indy 300 Champ Car event. The No.1 Newman/Haas driver circled the fast 2.795-mile Gold Coast temporary street course in one minute, 32.708 seconds (108.060 m.p.h.). The time was well off the track record - 1:30.936 set in October 2002 by Cristiano da Matta. Junqueira earned a critical championship point for the provisional pole and a guaranteed front row starting position for the race - the next to last event on the 2003 CART schedule. Alex Tagliani (1:33.265), Sebastien Bourdais (1:33.321), Adrian Fernandez (1:33.668) and series points leader Paul Tracy (1:34.161) completed the top- five. Tracy now owns a 28-point margin over Junqueira (226-198) with two races remaining. Final qualifying is scheduled for Saturday at 12:05 a.m. (et) with the race set to begin Sunday morning at 12:35 a.m.
