Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - Tomas Kaberle scored a power-play goal with 1:34 left in overtime as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Montreal Canadiens, 4-3, at Air Canada Centre.

With both teams skating three aside in the extra period, Francois Bouillon was assessed a two-minute minor for holding with 1:42 to play and the Leafs went on a 4-on-3 advantage. With the faceoff in the Canadiens' right defensive circle, Mats Sundin won the draw back to the left point to Kaberle. The defenseman passed to Sundin in the low left circle, got the puck back and one- timed the pass along the ice, beating Habs goaltender Cristobal Huet for the game-winner.

Alexei Ponikarovsky netted a pair of goals, while Sundin chipped in with three assists. The Toronto captain is now one point shy of tying Darryl Sittler for the club's all-time point lead.

Ian White also tallied for the Leafs, who improved to 1-1-1 this season. Vesa Toskala stopped 25-of-28 shots for Toronto.

Mathieu Dandenault, Andrei Markov and Andrei Kastsitsyn scored for Montreal, which fell to 1-0-1. Huet made 27 saves in defeat.

Trailing 3-2 at the end of two periods of play, Toronto tied the contest 2:55 into the third when Mike Komisarek tried clearing the puck out of the zone by shooting it up the left-wing boards, but it hit a player and the Leafs capitalized. Sundin grabbed the disc and centered to Ponikarovsky, who scored on a wrist shot to tie the score.

"It feels great, especially to get this win tonight," Ponikarovsky said about scoring in the win. "Everyone was working hard for it. We're happy with the results."

Both teams then tightened up the defense for most of the third period with the goaltenders making several key saves throughout.

Montreal had a glorious opportunity to take the lead with 1:48 left in the third when Andrew Wozniewski was whistled for a interference penalty, however the Habs couldn't take advantage and the game headed into overtime.

Montreal wasted little time getting on the board as Dandenault lit the lamp 2:43 into the opening period on a backhander. However, the Leafs tied the contest less than two minutes later when White's slapper got by Huet to knot the game at 1-1.

With Canadiens right winger Guillaume Latendresse in the box serving a minor for goaltender interference, Montreal struck for a short-handed tally.

After Bryan McCabe was unable to hold the puck in at his own blue line on the power play, the Habs were able force the action into the left corner of the Toronto defensive zone. Chris Higgins won the battle for the loose disc and made a nice pass to Markov in the slot. The defenseman took a quick wrist shot that beat Toskala to give the Habs a 2-1 edge.

Kastsitsyn made it 3-1 when he beat Toskala with a quick wrister off a nice feed from Alex Kovalev with 3:27 left in the second. But the Leafs got a break with just over a minute to play in the stanza when Huet misplayed the puck behind his own net and Ponikarovsky got a gift goal to get the Canadiens within a one after two periods of play.

The win marked the 2,500th in Maple Leafs franchise history...Sundin has points in all three games this season...Toronto's power-play goal broke an 0- for-17 with the man advantage this year...The Canadiens finished 0-for-6 on the power play, while the Leafs were 1-for-4.
