Carson, California (My Sportsbook) - Sun Wen is back to her old self so far as her goal in the 29th minute has China in front, 1-0 at halftime over Ghana.
Wen scored on a header off a beautiful lob from Bai Jie. The goal was Wen's 11th in World Cup play, just one shy of retired American Michelle Akers for first all-time.
Jie's lob from near the goalline was sent sky high and Ghana's goalkeeper Memunatu Sulemana tried to catch it, but failed leaving the net wide open for Wen.
Ghana has stayed within themselves early on and has kept China's potent scoring attack in check. However, their offense took a hit as they managed just one shot in the half.
China's Liu Ying drew the first shot of the game in the fifth minute, but Sulemana was there for the easy save.
China started to get into a flow around the 14th minute, as Wen fired her first shot over the net.
Ying had another chance in the 18th minute, but Sulemana came up with a brilliant save, knocking the point blank shot out of bounds.
In the 23rd minute, Zhao Lihong played a great cross to Han Duan deep into the area, but the Mother Continent's great 'keeper batted the ball away amidst a violent collision. Sulemana was shaken up on the play, but stayed played on.
