Shanghai, China (My Sportsbook) - Brazil's Marta was awarded the Golden Ball on Sunday as the top player in the Women's World Cup.

Marta, 21, scored seven goals to lead Brazil to its first final. Although she missed a penalty kick in the final, a 2-0 loss to Germany, Marta ran away with the award for the tournament's top player.

She had three two-goal games, including one double against the United States in the semifinals. Marta also had two assists, which helped her capture the Golden Shoe, which is given to the tournament's top scorer.

The reigning FIFA Player of the Year has 10 goals in the World Cup. She had three goals for Brazil in 2003 as a 17-year-old.

Germany's Birgit Prinz won the Silver Ball. She had five goals, including the first goal of the final for Germany. The three-time FIFA Player of the Year is the all-time leading scorer in the World Cup with 14 goals.

Prinz won the Golden Ball and the Golden Shoe in 2003.

Brazil's Cristiane won the bronze ball. She had five goals in the tournament and drew the penalty kick in the final.

Following Marta in the race for the Golden Shoe was United States forward Abby Wambach, who had six goals and one assist. She led the United States to third place.

Norway's Ragnhild Gulbrandsen won the bronze shoe for scoring six goals.

Germany's Nadine Angerer was named the best goalie after posting six shutouts in as many games. She capped her impressive tournament by stopping Marta on a penalty kick in the final and making another spectacular save with the Germans holding a one-goal lead.

Norway won FIFA's fair-play award, and Brazil was named the most entertaining team.

Marta, Prinz, Cristiane and Angerer were also named to FIFA's all-star team. Germany led the squad with five selections and Brazil had four. Of the four semifinalists, the United States had the fewest selections with one.

Following is the entire team: Goalkeepers - Angerer, Germany; Bente Nordby, Norway. Defenders - Li Jie, China; Kerstin Stegemann, Germany; Ariane Hingst, Germany; Ane Strangeland Horpestad, Norway. Midfielders: Daniela, Brazil; Formiga, Brazil; Kelly Smith, England; Renate Lingor, Germany; Ingvild Stensland, Norway; Kristine Lilly, United States. Forwards - Lisa De Vanna, Australia; Marta, Brazil; Cristiane, Brazil; and Prinz, Germany.
