Hangzhou, China (My Sportsbook) - Marta scored two goals to lead Brazil to a stunning 4-0 win over the United States, which played a man down in the second half, in the semifinals of Women's World Cup on Thursday. Brazil's victory was sparked by an own goal by U.S. midfielder Leslie Osborne and Marta pushed the lead to two goals before a bad call in first-half extra time all but ended the United States' chances of advancing to a third final. U.S. midfielder Shannon Boxx received her second yellow card - which resulted in a red card and an ejection - on a play where she was run over by Cristiane. Cristiane jumped to her feet and pumped her fist as referee Nicole Petignat pulled the card out of her pocket. With the man advantage, Cristiane scored early in the second half and Marta got her second goal late in the game as Brazil dominated the second half to advance to the World Cup final for the first time. The United States, which had its 51-game unbeaten streak snapped, lost in the semifinals in its second straight Cup. The Americans lost to Germany, 3-0, in the 2003 semifinals. Brazil (5-0-0) plays Germany, the defending champions, in the final on Sunday. The United States (3-1-1) plays Norway in the third-place match on Sunday. More details to follow ...
