Sunrise, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Florida Panthers signed defenseman Noah Welch to a two-year contract on Wednesday. Welch, 25, was acquired by the Panthers on February 27 from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for left wing Gary Roberts. He only appeared in two games with Florida last season and played a total of 24 games between Pittsburgh and Florida and totaled two goals and one assist. "We are pleased to have Noah under contract for the next two seasons," Florida general manager and coach Jacques Martin said. "He is a high character and hard working individual who further adds more depth to our defensive core." Alson on Wednesday, Florida assigned defenseman Bret Nasby to Rochester of the Americna Hockey League and returned Brady Calla, Michael Caruso and Corey Syvret to their junior team.
