Joseph leads Roughriders past Blue Bombers

Regina, Saskatchewan (My Sportsbook) - Kerry Joseph's 27-yard touchdown run with six seconds left gave the Saskatchewan Roughriders a 31-26 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Labour Day Classic.

Joseph went 20-of-32 for 348 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing nine times for 74 yards and a touchdown for the Roughriders.

Winnipeg quarterterback Kevin Glenn finished with three touchdown passes while going 26-of-35 for 391 yards and receiver Derek Armstrong caught 12 balls for 203 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Bombers.

Winnipeg running back Charles Roberts ran 83 yards on 16 carries giving him 8,895 career rushing yards breaking Leo Lewis' career rushing record of 8,861 yards.

The Blue Bombers struck first with a 47-yard single by Rob Pikula.

Saskatchewan found the end zone first when Matt Dominguez caught a 42-yard touchdown pass from Joseph with just under 6 1/2 minutes to go in the opening quarter.

Winnipeg responded when Glenn hit Terrence Edwards for a 12-yard touchdown with just under four minutes left in the first quarter.

A 19-yard field goal by Luca Congi put Saskatchewan on the board with a little under one minute to play in the first frame.

Winnipeg scored twice in the second quarter to take an 18-10 lead.

Armstrong caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Glenn with 2:52 left in the half and Pikula added a 29-yard field goal with three seconds left before the intermission.

Mike Washington caught a 14-yard touchdown pass with 12:15 to go in the third quarter and a 21-yard Congi field goal nearly 6 1/2 minutes later put The Roughriders ahead 20-18.

Winnipeg recaptured the lead with 4:07 left in the third quarter when Armstrong caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Glenn.

A 66-yard Jamie Boreham single and 50-yard field goal before the end of the third pulled Saskatchewan within 25-24.

In the fourth, Winnipeg scored a 48-yard Pikula single before Joseph capped a seven-play, 91-yard drive with his game winning touchdown run.

Game Notes

In the second quarter the Roughriders were stuffed at the one-yard line after a 12-play drive...Winnipeg is 2-2-1 on the road this year and 1-2-1 versus West Division competition. Saskatchewan is 4-1 at home this season and 3-0 against the East Division.
