Fresno, CA (My Sportsbook) - Fresno State sophomore quarterback Paul Pinegar is expected to miss Saturday's season-opener against 12th-ranked Tennessee because of a pectoral injury. Pinegar is unsure how the injury occurred, but said he began to feel pain during practice in mid-August. An MRI exam revealed the muscle tear. Head coach Pat Hill does not know how long Pinegar will be sidelined, but said fifth-year senior Jeff Grady will step into the starter's role. Grady began last season as the starter, but sustained injuries in two games and lost the job to Pinegar. Pinegar went on to earn Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors. He played in all 14 games last season, starting 12, and completed 57.1 percent of his passes for 2,292 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Grady has six touchdown passes and three interceptions in 12 games during his career at Fresno State.
