Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - Brian Giles homered twice for the second consecutive day to guide the San Diego Padres past the Cincinnati Reds, 10-4, in the finale of a three-game series at Great American Ball Park. Jake Peavy (13-5) remained unbeaten for his career against the Reds, allowing four runs -- two earned -- over 6 2/3 innings in a winning effort. Khalil Greene went 4- for-5 with three doubles and three RBI for the Padres, who had dropped four of six coming in. San Diego entered the day with a half-game lead over Atlanta in the wild card race. Bronson Arroyo (5-13) was tagged for five runs over six innings for Cincinnati, which has lost three of four.

Final Score: New York 10, Florida 4

Flushing, NY (My Sportsbook) - Moises Alou belted two home runs, including a solo shot that put New York in front in the sixth, as the Mets held on for a 10-4 victory over Florida in the finale of a three-game set at Shea Stadium. Jose Reyes added a solo home run while Carlos Delgado hit a two-run homer for the National League East-leading Mets, who avoided a sweep and ended a three- game slide. Jorge Sosa (8-6) pitched two scoreless frames in relief to pick up the win. Oliver Perez started for New York and gave up four runs on six hits in five innings. The left-hander also issued four walks and fanned four to go along with two wild pitches. Cody Ross had two hits and an RBI while Hanley Ramirez led the game off with a homer for the Marlins, who had a three-game win streak snapped. Relief pitcher Lee Gardner (3-3) suffered the loss after serving up Alou's homer in the sixth. Florida starter Rick VandenHurk pitched five innings and allowed four runs on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Final Score: St. Louis 12, Los Angeles 2

St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - Ryan Ludwick hit a three-run homer and finished with four runs batted in as the St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Los Angeles Dodgers, 12-2, in the rubber match of a three-game series at Busch Stadium. Brendan Ryan, who was recalled from Triple-A Memphis prior to the game, went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI for the Cardinals, who have won two straight and four of five. St. Louis starter Anthony Reyes (2-11) pitched six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. He also struck out five and walked just one while knocking in a run at the plate. Mark Hendrickson (4-7) started on the mound for Los Angeles and was ripped for eight runs on 11 hits in just 2 2/3 innings. Andre Ethier went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple for the slumping Dodgers, who have lost 13 of their last 17 games.

Final Score: Houston 6, Milwaukee 4

Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - Craig Biggio, Ty Wigginton and Lance Berkman all homered as Houston downed Milwaukee, 6-4, in the finale of a three-game set at Minute Maid Park. Eric Bruntlett added a big two-run single for the Astros, who avoided a sweep with the win. Brad Ausmus chipped in with a run- scoring double. Woody Williams hurled seven solid innings for Houston, allowing just two runs on five hits but recorded a no-decision. Mark McLemore (2-0) earned the win with a perfect eighth. Geoff Jenkins had two homers for the Brewers, who still lead the AL Central by 1 1/2 games over the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs fell to the Colorado Rockies, 6-3, Sunday. J.J. Hardy had a two-run homer for Milwaukee. Claudio Vargas surrendered two runs on five hits in six innings of work for Milwaukee. Carlos Villanueva (6-3) lost it after allowing three runs in the eighth.

Final Score: Colorado 6, Chicago 3

Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Troy Tulowitzki homered and broke a tie with a two-run double in the sixth inning as the Rockies salvaged a four-game series split with the Cubs, winning 6-3. Matt Herges (1-0) pitched 2 2/3 innings of perfect relief to earn the win for the Rockies. The veteran long reliever came on in the fourth after the Cubs had knocked out Tim Harikkala, who was making his first start of the season. Herges slammed the door on a Cubs threat in the fourth, and then combined with three other Rockie relievers to keep Chicago off the basepaths entirely until Jason Kendall worked a walk off Manny Corpas in the ninth. Colorado has now won 10 of its last 15, and finished a seven- game homestand 5-2. Kerry Wood (0-1) took the loss for the Cubs, allowing his first runs of the season. Wood relieved starter Sean Marshall in the sixth, only to allow three earned runs on two hits and a pair of walks. Mark DeRosa and Mike Fontenot each went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Cubs, who failed to capitalize on opportunities against Harikkala before being squeezed by the Rockies bullpen. The Cubs have now lost five of seven, despite taking the first two games of the series in Colorado.

Final Score: Pittsburgh 5, San Francisco 0

San Francisco, CA (My Sportsbook) - Tom Gorzelanny allowed five hits to post his first career shutout, Josh Phelps tied a career-high with four RBI, and the Pittsburgh Pirates finished off a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants with a 5-0 victory at AT&T Park. Gorzelanny (11-6) walked a batter and struck out four in the complete-game effort. He retired the final 17 batters he faced, finishing the game with 115 pitches -- 72 for strikes. With the effort he also improved to 4-0 with a 1.25 ERA against the NL West this season. Phelps hit a two-run homer and a two-run triple for the Pirates, who have won three straight games for the first time since winning four in a row July 3-6. They also swept a series on the road for the first time since opening the season with three straight wins at Houston April 2-4. The Giants, meanwhile, suffered through another mediocre performance from Barry Zito (8-11). The former AL Cy Young Award winner yielded three runs and six hits with three walks and four strikeouts in six innings. Zito, who inked a lucrative seven-year, $126-million contract with San Francisco in the offseason, threw 111 pitches in the outing -- just 67 for strikes. The left- hander is 0-2 in five home starts since defeating Houston on May 23 and has served up eight home runs in 27 innings during the skid. Barry Bonds finished the game 1-for-3 and got his first intentional pass in 10 days in the third inning for San Francisco, which has dropped four straight and nine of 12 overall.

Final Score: Washington 7, Arizona 6

Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - Jesus Flores hit a game-tying solo homer in the ninth and Felipe Lopez knocked in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly, as the Washington Nationals rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-6, in the finale of a three-game series at Chase Field. Flores finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, and Ryan Church chipped in with a two-run homer for Washington, which earned its first victory in seven games between the clubs this year. Jon Rauch (8-2) tossed an inning of relief to earn the win, allowing one run on two hits. Starter Mike Bacsik surrendered five runs on eight hits in just four innings. Eric Byrnes and Mark Reynolds both homered for Arizona, which had a four-game winning streak snapped and lost for just the fourth time in its last 21 games. The club's lead over San Diego is down to three games in the NL West. The Padres beat Cincinnati on Sunday. Jose Valverde (1-4) took the loss, blowing his sixth save in 41 chances. D- Backs starter Micah Owings worked into the seventh, allowing just one run on four hits, while walking a pair and fanning eight in 6 1/3 innings.

Final Score: Philadelphia 5, Atlanta 3

Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Ryan Howard's three-run home run in the fifth gave Philadelphia the lead, as the Phillies held off the Atlanta Braves, 5-3, in the rubber match of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park. Veteran left-hander Jamie Moyer (11-8) won his fourth-straight decision after giving up three runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. Philadelphia's beleaguered bullpen took care of the rest, retiring the final eight Atlanta batters of the game. Brett Myers pitched the ninth to record his ninth save of the season. The Phillies leapfrogged Atlanta for second place in the NL East, three games behind the New York Mets. The Braves sit 3 1/2 games back of New York. Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-3 for Philadelphia with a triple and three runs scored. The versatile shortstop scored 100 runs for the fourth straight season. Chipper Jones knocked in a pair of runs in the first inning for Atlanta, which finished a six-game road trip against division rivals New York and Philadelphia with a 3-3 record. Buddy Carlyle (7-4) was saddled with the loss after yielding four runs -- three earned -- on six hits over 4 1/3 innings.
