=== Tracy regains championship lead with win at Mid-Ohio ===
Lexington, OH (My Sportsbook) - Paul Tracy, who was knocked from the top of the CART championship standings last week by Bruno Junqueira, responded to the challenge on Sunday by winning the Champ Car Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio.
Tracy led a one-two sweep for Players/Forsythe Racing, finishing 0.610 seconds ahead of teammate Patrick Carpentier.
"I was going as quick as I could go," said Tracy. "He (Carpentier) was faster than me today, but I had built up such a lead that it was going to be hard for him to overcome that. Today I did what I had to do to get the points lead."
The victory was Tracy's sixth of the season and 25th of his CART career, tying him for 10th all-time with Gordon Johncock.
Rookie Ryan Hunter-Reay, Michel Jourdain Jr. and Sebastien Bourdais completed the top-five.
"It's an awesome day," said Hunter-Reay. "We worked hard, and it paid off."
The biggest moment of the day came early - on lap 14. Then points leader Junqueira collided with Oriol Servia who was trying to move inside for the pass. Servia was knocked out of the race and though Junqueira would return, he was two laps down. The Brazilian failed to earn any championship points with his 13th-place finish and dropped to second place in the standings, 20 points behind Tracy (184-164).
The next race in the championship, the Molson Indy Montreal, is scheduled for Sunday, August 24th.
