=== Tracy takes provisional pole at Mid-Ohio === Lexington, OH (My Sportsbook) - Paul Tracy captured the provisional pole for Sunday's Champ Car Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. Tracy cruised around the 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in 1 minute, 07.204 seconds. The time was almost two seconds off the track record of 1:05.347, jointly held by Dario Franchitti (1999) and Gil de Ferran (2000). Tracy earned one championship point for the provisional pole and a guaranteed front row starting position for the race. The Scarborough, ON native moved to within two points of series points leader Bruno Junqueira (164-162). Alex Tagliani (1:07.477), defending champion Patrick Carpentier (1:07.580), Mario Dominguez (1:07.652) and Michel Jourdain Jr. (1:07.696) completed the top-five. Junqueira was just 11th fastest in the 19-car field. The second qualifying session is scheduled for Saturday at 2:05 p.m. (et) with the race set to begin on Sunday at 2 p.m. (et). |
