Frisco, TX (My Sportsbook) - FC Dallas announced Tuesday it has acquired Brazilian forward Ricardinho on a free loan from partner club Atletico Paranaense in the first-ever player exchange between the clubs. The 18-year-old Brazilian youth international joined FC Dallas on Thursday and has been training with the club over the last few days. He has received his visa and is eligible to play for Dallas on Tuesday in the SuperLiga - an inaugural clash of some of the top teams in the United States and Mexico. "We're very excited to have Ricardinho," FC Dallas coach Steve Morrow said. "He brings a lot of great attributes with his athleticism and speed. He's a very skillful player but someone who also has a great work ethic. We think he has enormous potential on the field and we look forward to fitting him in with our team." Ricardinho, 18, joined Atletico Paranaense in Brazil in 2003. He played in 12 games this season in Brazil's top league, scoring one goal. "I think this certainly enhances the partnership between FC Dallas and Atletico Paranaense," Morrow said. "That we can work out a deal with a player of his potential, a young player who we feel can contribute for many years to come, it strengthens the relationship and everyone can see the value of the partnership between the two teams." Ricardinho has played on Brazil's U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-20 national teams. He will join Dallas' 18-man roster as a youth international, replacing Ecuadorian forward Robert Mina, who injured his knee and will miss the rest of the year. Dallas opens the SuperLiga against Chivas de Guadalajara at Pizza Hut Park. The eight-team tournament continues through Aug. 29. The Hoops, second in the Western Conference, return to their MLS schedule on Aug. 11 against Columbus.
