Elkhart Lake, WI (My Sportsbook) - Bruno Junqueira captured Sunday's rain- shortened Mario Andretti Grand Prix of Road America, defeating his Newman/Haas teammate Sebastien Bourdais by 0.703 seconds. The Brazilian led all 34 laps. The victory was Junqueira's first of the season and fourth of his CART career. He now has earned 11 top-five results in 12 starts this season. The race was twice delayed by rain, the first time for 21 minutes and then after the drivers had completed six yellow flag laps, a delay of two hours and 40 minutes. "It was a pretty spectacular and chaotic day," said co-owner Paul Newman in Victory Lane. Alex Tagliani, Max Papis and Patrick Carpentier completed the top-five. The win combined with a 15th-place finish by Paul Tracy, gives Junqueira a three point championship lead (164-161). "I basically threw it (championship lead) away, so I'm pretty disappointed in myself," said Tracy. "I thought I was a pretty good rain driver, but I locked the rear going down the hill and that was it. I was up to third at that point and it looked like it was going to be a pretty good day." The next race in the CART championship is scheduled for Sunday, August 10th at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
