East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - Southwind Lynx, winner of the Art Rooney Pace, came roaring down the rail to win Saturday's $1 million Meadowlands Pace at Meadowlands Racetrack. The time for the one-mile race was 1:49 1/5.

Southwind Lynx, driven by Tim Tetrick, defeated nine other three-year-olds to collect the $500,000 winner's check. The colt is owned by trainer George Teague, Jr. and K&R Racing.

Pandoras Sox took the early lead heading into the first turn, but was quickly passed by Kenneth J as the field headed up the backstretch. Running Book was third with Tell All in fourth.

Running Book assumed the lead midway up the backstretch followed by Kenneth J, Pandoras Sox and Tell All. Tell All, winner of the North America Cup, closed in behind Running Book as the field hit the far turn.

Driver Jody Jamieson and Tell All had the lead coming off the final turn and into the stretch. All along Southwind Lynx was in the back of the field waiting for an opening. The opening along the rail appeared in mid-stretch and Tetrick shot his colt into it.

Southwind Lynx motored to victory just as the favorite, Always A Virgin, broke stride. Tetrick and Southwind Lynx paced to victory by 1 1/2-lengths over Tell All followed by Artriverderci in third and Kenneth J fourth.

Southwind Lynx recorded his third win of the year in six starts as his 2007 earnings pushed past the $1 million mark. The Meadowlands Pace was the colt's second start in a month after a fourth place finish in a elimination heat for the North America Cup.

"It's been a tough go with him so far," said Teague. "He lost some time with sickness and shipping back and forth to Canada takes something out of them. I basically lost about a month with him in there."

The three-year-old was second to Always A Virgin in their elimination last week.

"I was happy with his elimination," Teague said. "He hadn't raced in four weeks and I didn't know what to expect."

Overall Southwind Lynx has won five of 13 starts for almost $1.1 million.

Southwind Lynx returned $13.20, $5.20 and $4.80. Tell All paid $4.60 and $3.40, and Artriverderci paid to show. $7.00.
