Lubbock, TX (My Sportsbook) - Former Michigan pitcher Jim Abbott was among 11 ex-players and coaches to be inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Pete Incaviglia of Oklahoma State, Fred Lynn of USC, John Olerud of Washington State, Phil Stephenson of Wichita State and Derek Tatsuno of Hawaii were also inducted. The late Jim Brock of Arizona State, Chuck Brayton of Washington State, the late Bibb Falk of Texas, Jerry Kindall of Arizona and the late Dick Siebert of Minnesota were also inducted. Abbott, the Golden Spikes Award winner in 1987, played 10 years in the majors. He had a streak of 31 scoreless innings and a nine-game winning streak to end the 1987 season. The highlight of his major league career was pitching a no-hitter for the Yankees in 1993. Incaviglia, Lynn and Olerud also had extensive major league experience. Incaviglia, probably the most recognized power hitter in NCAA baseball history, had an incredible junior year in 1985 when he set NCAA single-season records for home runs (48), RBI (143), total bases (285) and slugging percentage (1.140). Incaviglia played 12 seasons in the majors. Lynn and Olerud each spent 17 years in the majors. Lynn, who was the 1975 American League MVP and Rookie of the Year, batted .320 over his career at USC. Olerud combined to hit .434 with 37 doubles, 33 home runs, 131 RBI and a .824 slugging percentage in his collegiate career.
