Omaha, NE (My Sportsbook) - John Wallace had three hits, including a triple, as Oregon State won its second straight College World Series title, defeating North Carolina, 9-3, at Rosenblatt Stadium.

Darwin Barney and Jordan Lennerton each hit home runs for the Beavers, who also beat the Tar Heels last season when they captured their first baseball championship in school history.

On Saturday, OSU downed North Carolina, 11-4, in Game 1 of the best-of-three championship series and completed the sweep with Sunday's victory.

Oregon State became the first team to win back-to-back crowns since LSU did it in 1996 and '97, and the fifth school overall.

"We felt like that already," said OSU head coach Pat Casey about being in the same company as USC and Texas as repeating as national champions. "I don't have to convince this team that it's Texas or USC. They're Oregon State. That level of confidence and pride has created this team's success. I trusted them. We don't need to be anybody but who we are."

This series marked the second repeat national championship match-up in CWS history and the first since Southern California and Arizona State met in the 1972 and 1973 title games.

Mike Stutes notched the victory for OSU after pitching 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.

Dustin Ackley went deep and knocked in a pair of runs in the loss for North Carolina, which has never captured the College World Series.

The loss went to Luke Putkonen, who gave up two runs -- three earned -- on three hits in just 1 2/3 frames.

"I have to congratulate Oregon State," said NC head coach Mike Fox. "Back-to- back national championships is unbelievable, especially in Division I baseball today. Obviously I am disappointed. I can't begin to explain how proud I am of our players and the season we had. The last day of the season is always hard. Obviously you want to end it here (Omaha). Hopefully we'll be back here again next year."

After the Tar Heels grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Beavers scored three runs in the second to take control.

Mitch Canham opened the top of the second with a single and Barney followed with a line-drive home run just over the wall in left field to put the Beavers in front. Later in the frame, Wallace crossed the plate and made it 3-1 after Chris Hopkins reached base on an error.

Scott Santschi's RBI single in the third made it a three-run advantage for Oregon State.

North Carolina loaded the bases in the bottom of the third, but managed to score just one run on Tim Federowicz's fielder's choice that made it 4-2.

Wallace knocked in a run in the fifth for OSU to up its lead to 5-2 while Ackley's solo home run in the home half of the inning made it a two-run contest once again.

The Beavers tacked on two more runs in the seventh to make it 7-3 and Lennerton's two-run blast in the ninth put the game away for OSU.
