Omaha, NE (My Sportsbook) - Bryan Petersen came through with the game- winning single in the bottom of the 13th inning, as UC Irvine eliminated Cal State Fullerton from the College World Series with a 5-4 victory. The scoring went silent from the seventh inning on, until Irvine mounted the deciding attack in the 13th. With two on and one out, Matt Morris hit a single to left that looked like it was going to end the game. Taylor Holiday was gunned out at home, though, to keep the marathon contest going. Petersen finally ended it in the next sequence, slapping a base hit to center as Cody Cipriano came around to score. With the win, UC Irvine advances to play the loser of the Oregon State-Arizona State game on Tuesday. Matt Wallach hit a leadoff homer to right in the second inning for Fullerton to open up the scoring. UC Irvine loaded up the bases in the fourth, though, and scored the tying run when Aaron Lowenstein was hit by a pitch. RBI singles from Nick Mahin and Wallach put Cal State back in front by a margin of 3-1. The back and forth continued in the sixth, as Holiday blasted a two-run homer to knot it up at 3-3. Mahin scored in the top of the seventh after Corey Jones was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, but Cipriano led off the home-half of the frame with a homer to tie it once again.
