Omaha, NE (My Sportsbook) - Rice and North Carolina both came back from early deficits to secure wins in the first day of play at the College World Series. Aaron Luna went 2-for-4, homered, drove in three runs and scored three as the Rice Owls came back from deficits of five and six runs to top the Louisville Cardinals, 15-10, in the first game of the day. Rice will face North Carolina on Sunday evening. Louisville, which led 5-0 and 10-4, could not answer after the Owls put up a six-spot in the eighth inning to take the 15-10 lead. Logan Johnson homered twice for the Cards, who will face Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon. Chad Flack went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Tar Heels, who rebounded from an early four-run hole to top MSU, 8-5. The Tar Heels, who fell behind 4-0 in the second, plated two in the fourth to cut the lead in half, and scored six times in the sixth inning to take an 8-4 lead. Russ Sneed was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run for the Rebels. Four more teams play their first games of the CWS on Saturday.
