Baseball brackets are set: Field of 64 heads toward Omaha

Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - Sixty-four teams with aspirations for Omaha and the College World Series now know their destination and regional opponents, as the NCAA Division I baseball committee announced the 64-team tournament field on Monday for the 61st annual NCAA Division I baseball championship.

The national top eight seeds are Vanderbilt (51-11), Rice (49-12), North Carolina (48-12), Texas (44-15), Arizona State (43-13), Florida State (47-11), Arkansas (41-19) and San Diego (43-16).

The Commodores will begin with a game against Austin Peay while Rice will take on Prairie View in the regionals.

Meanwhile, the Tar Heels will battle Wofford (30-31), Texas will tangle with Brown (27-19), Arizona State will play Monmouth (36-22-1), Florida State will square off with Bethune-Cookman (33-25), Arkansas will play Albany, New York (29-27) and San Diego will meet Fresno State (36-27).

Each regional of four teams will play a double-elimination tournament. Regionals are scheduled from June 1 to June 4, with eight teams eventually advancing to the College World Series, which begins play on Friday, June 15 at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.
