Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed point guard Rod Strickland. Terms were not released, but the deal has been reported to be for one year. The 36-year-old Strickland averaged 10.4 points and 6.1 assists last season with Miami. He has also played for New York, San Antonio, Portland and Washington. In 970 NBA games, Strickland has averaged 14.2 points and 7.7 assists. The Bronx native, who is 6-foot-3, is a product of DePaul University. He was selected with the 19th overall pick in the 1988 draft by the Knicks. Minnesota needed to add a point guard because of injuries to starter Terrell Brandon, who is recovering from a knee injury, and Felipe Lopez. Lopez will miss the entire season because of a knee injury, while Brandon is sidelined indefinitely.
