Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - Indiana Pacers guard Reggie Miller will miss the first two weeks of the regular season and possibly more because of a sprained right ankle. The Indianapolis Star reported Saturday that Miller has decided against undergoing injection therapy. He had traveled to California Thursday to meet with his personal physician and begin the therapy with a "super lubricant" in the ankle, but apparently changed his mind about the new treatment. "The way I understand it is he'll take a week off and see if the ankle gets better," team president Donnie Walsh told the paper. "He'll take another week off and see if it gets any better. Then we'll regroup and if it doesn't get any better, then we have to start talking about surgery or arthroscopy or whatever." Miller suffered the sprain during an August 25 exhibition game against Germany as the United States was preparing for the World Basketball Championship in Indianapolis. After sitting out the first three games in the WBC, Miller returned to finish out the tournament. The 37-year-old Miller appeared in 79 games last season and averaged 16.5 points per contest. Indiana opens the season at home against Houston on October 30.
