Portland, OR (My Sportsbook) - Points leader Michel Jourdain Jr. captured the provisional pole for Sunday's G.I. Joe's 200 Champ Car event with a lap of 59.397 seconds (119.339 m.p.h.) around the 1.969-mile, 10-turn road course. Jourdain Jr. earned one championship point for the provisional pole and a guaranteed front row starting position for the race. The Team Rahal driver now owns a seven-point edge over second place Bruno Junqueira (90-83). Ryan Hunter-Reay (59.432), Jimmy Vasser (59.433), Oriol Servia (59.519) and Adrian Fernandez (59.538) completed the top-five. Last week's champion, Patrick Carpentier and rookie Mario Haberfeld went off course in turn 11 and were forced to lose their best laps for causing a stoppage in qualifying action. Also crashing and losing their fastest laps were Paul Tracy and Alex Tagliani. The race is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (et).
