London, England (My Sportsbook) - Formula One's ruling body, the Federation Internationale de L'Automobile, has banned all traction control devices for next year. In an announcement on Friday, the FIA added a clause to the 2008 technical regulations which stated: "No car may be equipped with a system or device which is capable of preventing the driven wheels from spinning under power or of compensating for excessive throttle demand by the driver." Traction control was originally banned by Formula One officials in 1994 to decrease the importance of technology over driver skill. The ban was lifted in 2001 when some teams were thought to be using a form of traction control and officials could no longer police the ban.
