Berea, OH (My Sportsbook) - The Cleveland Browns and defensive end Mark Word agreed on a one-year contract extension on Wednesday, rewarding the team's leader in sacks last season. The 27-year-old Word is now under contract through 2004. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Word, who received limited playing time throughout the first two years of his career, played in all 16 regular season games for the Browns in 2002. He registered eight sacks, forced four fumbles and produced 17 solo tackles last season. Word was acquired prior to the 2001 season by the Browns as an unrestricted free agent.
