East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - The New Jersey Devils celebrated their third Stanley Cup title in nine years in familiar fashion, with a tailgate party outside the Continental Airlines Arena. The Devils captured the Stanley Cup on Monday, completing a seven-game triumph over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim with a 3-0 victory. Fans packed the parking lot on Saturday afternoon to celebrate and cheered each Devil as he was introduced. The loudest ovations were reserved for captain Scott Stevens and goaltender Martin Brodeur. Stevens and a number of other Devils showed off the Stanley Cup on Friday night at Yankee Stadium before the Yankees/Cardinals baseball game. Brodeur, who was honored with the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goaltender on Thursday, was greeted by cheers of "MVP, MVP!" He was a finalist for the Hart Trophy as the league's MVP, which went to Colorado's Peter Forsberg, and lost out to Anaheim's Jean-Sebastien Giguere for the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. The party was hosted by New Jersey native Joe Piscopo, while New Jersey governor James E. McGreevey declared Saturday "Devils Day." Each of the Devils' Stanley Cup championships have been celebrated in front of the arena and fans were admitted to the parking lot for free to join the festivities.
