Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - The Philadelphia Flyers have moved Ron Ryan up to the top line, naming him the team's president on Friday. Ryan has been the club's chief operating officer since 1991, and will now oversee all of the Flyers' day-to-day operations. "Ron has been an important part of the Flyers organization for 15 years, and both Bob Clarke and I agreed that he has earned the opportunity to serve as president," Ed Snider, chairman of the Flyers' parent company, Comcast- Spectacor, said. General Manager Bob Clarke will continue his command over personnel decisions. Ryan was the general manager of the New England Whalers from 1975-1977, executive director of the World Hockey Association in 1978, and served as president and general manager for SportsChannel New England and later, SportsChannel Florida. He was named executive vice president of the Flyers in 1988, and has assumed the management of all business and administrative aspects of the club through the years.
