Enschede, Holland (My Sportsbook) - Twente currently sit fourth in the Eredivisie table, but they have moved closer and closer to the top three on the strength of a five-game win streak in league play. They enter Saturday's contest at Arke Stadion against Willem II just two points out of second place, and they will move into the top three with a win.
With second-placed Ajax and third-placed AZ meeting on Sunday, three points will guarantee a top-three spot.
Willem II have not been quite as successful as their hosts, winning just once in their last six games in league play. Willem are currently in 14th place, just three points clear of relegation, and face a critical set of fixtures over the coming weeks if they are to stay in the top league.
Twente manager Fred Rutten will have midfielders Luke Wilkshire and Niels Oude Kamphuis back in the lineup, but Rutten will also have plenty of injury woes to contend with. Defender Niels Wellenberg (upper leg), midfielder Arnar Vidarsson (calf) and strikers Anatoli Gerk (ill) and Patrick Gerritsen (broken leg) will all miss the match, while midfielder Orlando Engelaar is doubtful.
Willem II coach Dennis van Wijk's lineup will not include strikers Mounir El Hamdaoui, Arjan Swinkels and defender Jose Valencia.
Willem do not have the best offensive record in Holland, with just 25 goals in 25 matches. The team will have to lean on Kevin Bobson, who has five goals this season to lead the club, for its offensive output. Twente striker Blaise N'Kufo will be licking his chops when he steps onto the pitch to face the worst defense in the Erevisie. N'Kufo has scored 18 goals this season for Twente and that number is expected to go up on Saturday against a Willem side that has conceded a league-high 55 goals.
In action on Friday, Utrecht scored three times in a span of 15 minutes to down NEC, 3-0.
Saturday's action features league-leaders PSV hosting Groningen, Roda and Heerenveen, who are separated by just one point, squaring off at Parkstad Limburg Stadion and Heracles, two points from the drop zone, visiting Sparta.
The game of the weekend takes place on Sunday at Alkmaarder Hout as third- placed AZ entertains second-placed Ajax. The two teams are separated by just one point, and with Twente breathing down the necks of both clubs, three points would be huge. Feyenoord visits Den Haag, Excelsior hosts NAC and RKC Waalwijk, three points from safety, takes on Vitesse.
