East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - Vince Carter had 32 points, seven assists and five rebounds as the
New Jersey Nets pounded the
Toronto Raptors, 101-86, at Continental Airlines Arena.
Richard Jefferson netted 21 and grabbed five boards while Jason Kidd finished with 10 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds for the Nets, who have won four of their last five games.
"Anything personal stays personal and anything that's related to my job stays within my job," said Kidd, who filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years earlier in the day. "I have a job to do and I try to go out there every night and do it.
"I never try to cross the two or bring the two together," continued Kidd. "My personal life is my personal life and my job is my job and that's the way I look at it."
Mikki Moore finished with 12 points and eight rebounds and Bostjan Nachbar chipped in 12 points and five rebounds in the win.
"We're not exactly where we want to be, and we understand that we've dug ourselves a hole," said Jefferson. "It's a matter of now having to play above and beyond to get out of that hole. You're going to have to make a run just to get back to .500 so this was a step in the right direction."
Andrea Bargnani poured in 22 points while Jose Calderon had 16 points and 12 assists for the Raptors, who had a two-game winning streak snapped and have lost four of their last six contests. Chris Bosh ended with 12 points and six boards.
"It was a bad game," said Toronto head coach Sam Mitchell. "I told them the next time we come up here we're going to find a hotel in Hackensack, New Jersey to stay."
The Nets jumped out to a 15-0 lead, including nine points from Carter, as the Raptors missed their first eight shots from the field and committed three turnovers.
Carter's three-point play extended the lead to 24-9, but Toronto closed the stanza with a 10-0 run, capped by Morris Peterson's three as time expired, narrowing the gap to 24-19.
The Nets missed 10 straight shots from the floor, spanning the first and second quarters, as the Raptors pulled within 24-22.
Toronto moved in front with a 9-2 streak, ending with Calderon's three-point play for a 34-28 advantage, but New Jersey countered with 10 straight points for a 38-36 edge.
The Raptors led 48-47 at the half.
Jorge Garbajosa's jump shot pulled the Raptors within 51-50, however, the Nets answered with a 17-8 spurt, with eight points coming from Jefferson, pushing the margin to 68-58.
New Jersey outscored Toronto 27-17 in the frame for a 74-65 heading into the fourth quarter.
Nachbar's jumper made it 89-74, but the Raptors made it interesting with seven consecutive points, culminating with Bargnani's layup with 4:20 to play. New Jersey responded with seven straight of its own to put the game away.
