Memphis, TN (My Sportsbook) - Mike Miller tallied 14 of his 25 points during a historic third quarter, leading the Memphis Grizzlies past the Los Angeles Lakers, 128-118.

Miller was at the controls of a 46-point third quarter, the most points the Grizzlies have ever scored in a quarter. Memphis scored 13 consecutive points during the period to grab a commanding edge, outscoring the Lakers by 24 points over the 12 minutes.

Pau Gasol also tallied 25 points, leading seven Grizzlies in double figures, while Damon Stoudamire added 16 points and six assists. Gasol's 13 rebounds helped spur a huge 50-39 edge on the glass for Memphis, which snapped a two- game losing streak.

Kobe Bryant poured in 25 points on 7-of-15 shooting and Maurice Evans added 12 points for the Lakers, who saw a four-game winning streak come to an end.

The third quarter was the ultimate difference between a win and a loss.

Memphis trailed 57-52 entering the stanza, but went on a 17-7 stretch to take a 69-64 lead. Miller drained back-to-back treys to post the advantage with 7:06 left.

Later, the Grizzlies reeled off 13 points in a row to take control. Stoudamire was in the middle of the action with four points and a crafty alley-oop pass to Gasol.

A running jumper by Miller followed by a Stoudamire layup made the score 85-68 with 3:09 on the clock.

Memphis led 98-79 after three stanzas.

Bryant, Smush Parker, Brian Cook and the rest of the starters sat on the bench for the final period.

The Lakers jumped out to a 19-10 edge early, and held a 24-20 lead after one stanza on Jordan Farmar fadeaway nearing 30 seconds on the clock.

The Lakers were coming off a 101-98 victory over Dallas, the team with the league's best record...Memphis made just 6-of-20 from three-point range, while the Lakers drained 11-of-31 from beyond the arc.
