Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - The
Philadelphia Flyers will try and bounce back from their first loss of the season when they welcome the
Montreal Canadiens to the First Union Center on Thursday.
Eric Weinrich had the lone Philadelphia goal and Roman Cechmanek stopped 29 shots for the Flyers, who moved to 3-1-2 on the year with a 2-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
Trailing by a goal, Weinrich evened the game at 8:13 of the middle period with a power-play tally. Kim Johnsson sent a cross-ice pass to Weinrich, who fired a shot from above the left circle and beat Biron over his right shoulder.
The Flyers have scored at least one power-play goal in each of their first six games.
However, Buffalo scored midway through the final 20 minutes to seal the win, capitalizing on a Weinrich turnover in the defensive zone.
Montreal, which has given up the first goal in all six of its games, is riding a three-game unbeaten string (1-0-2) and tied the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-3, on Tuesday.
Jan Bulis and Joe Juneau each registered a goal and an assist for the Canadiens, who are a perfect 2-0-0 away from their home rink.
Andrei Markov added his second goal of the season for Montreal, which blew a 3-1 third period lead. Jose Theodore returned between the pipes for the Canadiens and finished with 27 saves, including a breakaway stop on Pittsburgh's Alexandre Daigle midway through the second period.
Theodore, last year's Vezina and Hart Trophy recipient, had permitted 12 goals in his previous two starts, and had been replaced by Jeff Hackett before returning on Tuesday.
Saku Koivu had an assist in the deadlock and has scored a point in four straight games for Montreal.
Philadelphia has won two of the last three meetings, but Montreal is 5-3-3 in the last 11 meetings.
Montreal is unbeaten (5-0-2) in its last seven at Philadelphia and is 6-1-3 in the last 10 in the City of Brotherly Love.
