Orlando, FL (My Sportsbook) - Like last year, it came down to the final hole for Bernhard and Stefan Langer.
"It was less nerve-wracking this year because last year we won," 16-year-old Stefan said, moments after making a six-foot birdie putt at the 18th hole to clinch a second straight win at the Del Webb Father/Son Challenge.
The Langers combined to shoot an 11-under 61 Sunday and finished the scramble at 24-under-par 120, beating Bob and Kevin Tway and Vijay and Qass Singh by one shot.
It was Stefan, not his father, who provided the highlights.
At the par-four 13th, the younger Langer rolled in a tough 20-foot birdie putt to give him and his father a two-shot lead over Hale and Steve Irwin. They also birdied the par-five 16th.
Then, at the par-five closing hole at ChampionsGate, Stefan secured the win and a $200,000 first-place check with his clutch birdie putt. He and his father two-putted for a birdie at the 36th hole last year.
"I was nervous," Stefan said. "But I took a deep breath and made it."
Stefan became the youngest winner in event history last year at 15 and remains the only teenage champion in tournament history. The Langers are the first father-son duo to repeat at this event since Raymond and Robert Floyd in 2001.
"I'm proud of him," his father said. "I was happy to see Stefan handle the pressure like he did."
It was easier said than done for the younger Langer, who fell ill on Saturday night.
"I got sick last night," he said, "and my legs felt tired today."
The Singhs shot an 11-under 61 to share second place with the Tways, who had a 60, at 23-under 121. Qass Singh is 16; Kevin Tway is 18.
"It's wonderful. It's just a wonderful week," Bob Tway gushed. "We're very appreciative to get to come. Hopefully, we'll get to do it again."
After sharing the first-round lead with the Langers, Davis Love and 13-year- old Dru closed with a 64 and finished fourth at 21-under 123. The Irwins were one shot further back at 124 following a 59.
Greg and Gregory Norman (63), Jack and Jackie Nicklaus (63) and Tom and David Kite (63) shared sixth place at 19-under 125.
Johnny and Scott Miller (64), Larry and Drew Nelson (62) and Bob and David Charles (65) tied for ninth at 18-under 126. Curtis and Thomas Strange (63) and Mark and Shaun O'Meara (62) were a shot further back at 127.
Rounding out the field were Raymond and Raymond Floyd Jr. (64); Arnold Palmer and grandson Sam Saunders (68); Craig and Chris Stadler (67); Billy and Bob Casper (68) and Lee and Daniel Trevino (73).
