Yonkers, NY (My Sportsbook) - Leading three-year-old trotter Glidemaster has become the ninth standardbred to sweep trotting's Triple Crown races. The colt captured the $728,930 Yonkers Trot on Saturday night to enter the record book.

Glidemaster, driven by George Brennan, covered the mile in 1;55 4/5. He was a length in front of Algiers Hall on the half-mile track. Ira K was third in the eight horse field.

The Yonkers victory completes a sweep the Triple Crown races. Glidemaster already won the Hambletonian and Kentucky Futurity.

Trained by Blair Burgess for owners Bob Burgess, Karin Olsson-Burgess, Marsha Cohen & Brittany Farms, Glidemaster earned $364,000 and registered his eighth win this year in 15 starts. He has earned $1.9 million in 2006 and also has seven second place finishes.

Windsong's Legacy was the last trotter to sweep the Triple Crown in 2004.

The $546,830 Messenger Stakes went to Palone Ranger and driver Ron Pierce. This was the first Messenger Stakes to be contested at Yonkers since 1988.

Palone Ranger defeated Perfect Union in the third leg of pacing's Triple Crown. Pierce guided his three-year-old through the mile race in 1:54 3/5.

Finishing third in the six horse field was Livestrong while Breeders' Crown winner Shark Gesture faded to last.

It was Palone Ranger's first win of the year in nine starts and was worth about $270,000. This year he has earnings of better than $330,000 and career winnings of more than $700,000. The colt is owned by Four Friends Racing Stable and Perretti Racing Stable, and is trained by Greg Peck.

"Its my biggest win and it feels good," said Peck. "This is a race with a lot of history; its a Triple Crown race and it's a huge honor. Let's just hope we keep it going."

Total Truth won the Cane Pace in the first of the Triple Crown event. The Little Brown Jug, the second leg of the series, went to Mr. Feelgood. Neither competed in the Messenger.
