Swindon, England (My Sportsbook) - Swindon Town FC has announced former Sheffield Wednesday boss, Paul Sturrock, as the League Two outfit's new manager on Tuesday. Sturrock takes over the reigns as successor to Dennis Wise, who left Swindon two weeks ago to head Leeds United, as the new Robins coach brings along Kevin Summerfield as an assistant, along with John Blackley as a defensive coach. Swindon currently stands in fourth in League Two with a 9-6-4 record, after being relegated to the level this year. Sturrock's new squad has 31 points, only seven behind first-place Walsall. While with Sheffield, the 50-year-old guided the group to the League One playoffs before winning promotion to the Championship over his two-year stint with the Owls. The Scotland native also made managing stops at Southampton, Plymouth, Dundee United and St. Johnstone. Swindon skipper Ady Williams led the squad in the fixtures against Lincoln and Hereford, alongside former Rushden and Diamonds manager Barry Hunter, following Wise's departure. The club did not disclose the particulars of Sturrock's contract.
