The 30th renewal of the event proved to be a coronation of Joseph Alborano's colt. Artistic Fella, driven by Catello Manzi. Artistic Fella took the lead at the halfway point and went on to post a 1 1/4 length victory. Long-shot My Boy David finished second followed by Armbro Deuce, Perfect Union, Shark Gesture, Dave Panlone, Took Hanover, 5-2 second choice Total Truth, Western Ace and Real Mean Art. The time for the mile was 1:48 4/5. Trained by Steve Elliott. Artistic Fella added $500,000 to his bankroll which now totals $921,560. In his career the three-year-old has won 12 of 17 starts. This is the first Meadowlands Pace win for Alborano, Elliott and Manzi. "This was like my destiny," Manzi said. "I drove the horse a few months ago and couldn't do anything with him. Here, he fell back in my lap. Joe said to give him another try. It was exciting. It feels like it was my destiny, it feels great." Artistic Fella returned $4.00, $2.80 and $2.80.
