Long Beach, CA (My Sportsbook) - Paul Tracy won the provisional pole for Sunday's CART race, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Tracy, winner of CART's first two events, earned the pole with a best lap of 1 minute, 9.079 seconds (102.561 m.p.h.). Tracy earned one championship point for the provisional pole and a guaranteed front row starting position for the race. Tracy now holds a 12-point edge in the championship over Michel Jourdain Jr. (44-32). Tracy's time bested that of Bruno Junqueira, who posted a time of 1:09.120 around the 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary street course. Sebastien Bourdais (1:09.242), Patrick Carpentier (1:09.406) and Adrian Fernandez (1:09.432) completed the top-five. The second qualifying session is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. (et) on Saturday and the race is set for Sunday afternoon.
