Lake Forest,IL (My Sportsbook) - Richard Dent was named assistant defensive line coach for the Chicago Bears on Tuesday. The former Bears star signed a one-year contract and will work with defensive line coach Larry Brooks. Dent, who was the MVP of Super Bowl XX and played 12 seasons in Chicago, holds the Bears' single-season sacks record and will focus on improving the team's pass rush. Dent recorded 17.5 sacks in 1984 -- his second year in the NFL. The Tennessee State product finished his career with 137.5 sacks, ranking him fifth all-time in NFL history behind Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Kevin Greene and Chris Doleman. Dent was selected to the Pro Bowl four times and had stints in San Francisco, Indianapolis and Philadelphia, where he ended his career in 1997. The 15-year veteran competed in 203 games, including 151 starts, and posted 675 tackles, eight interceptions, 38 forced fumbles, 13 fumble recoveries and one TD.
