Kansas City, MO (My Sportsbook) - The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a five-year contract with unrestricted free agent defensive end Vonnie Holliday, who spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers. Financial terms of the deal were not available, but the Kansas City Star reported it to be worth as much as $21.3 million, including a $4 million signing bonus. The paper also said the contract includes a $5 million roster bonus in 2005. "Vonnie Holliday is an experienced five-year starting defensive end for a perennial playoff team," said Chiefs president Carl Peterson. "He's a former number one draft choice who helped Green Bay to a substantial number of victories during his tenure there. He gives the Chiefs an additional pass rusher with solid credentials. He plays both defensive end positions and he can play defensive tackle if necessary. We believe he'll be an excellent addition to our football team." Holliday has started 63 of the 66 games he has played in his career after being the 19th overall pick of the 1998 draft. He has 32 sacks, two interceptions and 260 tackles in five years. The University of North Carolina product had his best sack season in his rookie campaign of 1998 with eight and in 2001 racked up a career-high 81 tackles. Holliday was also pursued by the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle, instead, signed defensive end Chike Okeafor on Monday.
