Hanover, Germany (My Sportsbook) - Bartosz Bosacki scored twice to lead Poland over Group A opponent Costa Rica, 2-1, Tuesday at the reconstructed Niedersachsenstadion in Hanover. Despite being eliminated from the World Cup in its last match, Poland was able to walk away from the tournament with a sense of pride. Bosacki, who was a late addition to the Poland squad, helped the European team secure its lone victory in Germany and third place in Group A. The 30-year-old defender grabbed his first goal in the 33rd minute and then notched his second in the 66th. Costa Rica opened the scoreboard in the 24th minute as forward Ronald Gomez rifled in a free-kick through a sea of Poland jerseys. The Saprissa striker is best known for his acrobatic header against reigning World Cup champion Brazil at Korea/Japan 2002. Minutes later, Poland grabbed the equalizer as Bosacki found Maciej Zurawski's corner and volleyed past the Costa Rica goalkeeper. It was Bosacki's first- ever international and World Cup goal. Bosacki then sealed the win and avoided the basement in Group A as he headed home Krzynowek's curling corner. Also in Group A action on Tuesday: Germany clinched first place after defeating Ecuador, 3-0, in Berlin. With the win, Germany will face the second place team in Group B, which could be England, Sweden or Trinidad & Tobago.
