Omaha, NE (My Sportsbook) - Andy D'Alessio hit a three-run homer, highlighting an eight-run eighth inning as Clemson defeated Georgia Tech, 8-4, in the first matchup of Bracket 1 for the College World Series at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium. Trailing 4-3, D'Alessio crushed a 2-2 offering over the wall in right-center for a 6-4 lead. Marquez Smith hit a two-run double and Tyler Colvin was 2- for-5 with a run scored for the Tigers, who had 13 batters come to the plate against five different pitchers in the inning. Ryan Hinson (4-0) threw two innings, giving up just one hit for Clemson, which recorded its third straight come-from-behind win. Jeff Kindel hit a three-run homer and Ryan Turner (4-4) recorded the loss, yielding three runs on two hits and a walk, while not retiring a batter for the Yellow Jackets, who still have a chance in the double elimination tournament. Starter Lee Hyde pitched well, surrendering two runs on three hits in seven- plus innings of work but couldn't get through the eighth frame. He also walked five and struck out six. Clemson will next play Sunday against the winner of Friday's second matchup between Cal-State Fullerton-North Carolina.
