Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - Post positions for the $1.5 million North America Cup have been set for Saturday's one-mile pace at Woodbine Race Course. The North America Cup is Canada's top race for standardbreds.
Feelin Friskie has been installed as the 2-1 morning line favorite in the 10- horse field. The three-year-old will be driven by Hall of Famer John Campbell from post 2. Campbell has won the North America Cup seven times.
Owned by Wayne Whebby, Feelin Friskie is coming off a win in a North America Cup elimination race last Saturday. Earlier this year the pacer captured the New Jersey Classic at The Meadowlands.
Feelin Friskie is trained by Scott Bell and has career earnings of $377,499. This year he has won three of four starts for $294,612.
The second choice in the program at 9-2 is Total Truth and driver Ron Pierce. Total Truth was second to Feelin Friskie in last week's elimination race. He will start from post 5 for co-owner and trainer Brenda Teague. Total Truth has earned $56,750 this year with a win and a second in two starts.
Teague also trains and co-owns Western Ace, who is 5-1 in the morning line. Western Ace was second in his elimination race to Doonbeg. Brian Sears will be in the sulky and start from post 7.
Western Ace was third in the New Jersey Classic and has career earnings of more than $700,000. This year he has a second and a third in three starts.
Also at 5-1 is Bono Bests. The three-year-old will start from post 6 with driver Dave Miller. Bono Bests finished third to Feelin Friskie last Saturday. He is owned and trainer by Ivan Sugg.
Last year's champion two-year-old male pacer, Jereme's Jet, is 6-1 in the program and will start from the outside post. Jereme's Jet is winless this year in two starts. Last week he was fourth in an elimination race.
Jereme's Jet will be driven by Paul MacDonell for owner Genesis Racing Stable and trainer Tom Harmer. The three-year-old has career earnings of better than $1.2 million. Last year at Woodbine he captured the Governor's Cup.
Completing the field in post position order are Dave Panlone, Doonbeg, Perfect Union, Fox Valley Tribal and Impeccable.
Post-time for the North America Cup is 9:40 P.M. (ET). The winning owner will pick up $750,000.
Last year's race was won by eventual Horse of the Year Rocknroll Hanover.
