Fort Worth, TX (My Sportsbook) - Mike Skinner broke his own record and captured the Craftsman Truck Series pole for Friday night's Sam's Town 400. The No.5 Toyota Tundra circled the 1.5-mile speedway in 29.475 seconds.
The old mark was 29.524 seconds, 192.902 m.p.h. which Skinner set last June.
The pole victory was Skinner's second of the season and 26th of his truck career.
Starting on the front row with Skinner will be Terry Cook who posted a second- best time of 29.512 seconds.
Rookie Kraig Kinser (29.522) and Johnny Benson (29.678) will start in row two.
Rick Crawford will start fifth in the 36-truck field.
Without Mark Martin (three wins) and Kyle Busch (one win), both of whom will be in Pennsylvania for the Nextel Cup event, the strong favorites will be Germain Toyota teammates Todd Bodine, the Craftsman Truck Series points leader and Ted Musgrave the defending series champion.
Bodine, starting sixth, leads the series by 76 points over his teammate. He has won twice and collected six top-10s in eight starts.
"To come out of here with a third-place finish (at Dover), especially when we were about sixth with two laps to go, that's how you win championships," said Bodine. "When you take a truck that's not perfect and finish third with it, that's a pretty good day."
Musgrave also has six top-10s, though has yet to make the trip to Victory Lane.
Third-place David Reutimann, starting ninth, owns a series-high seven top-10s and trails Bodine by just 111 points.
The race is scheduled for Friday at 9 p.m. (et).
